Thomas McGarry, a resident of Mariposa, passed away on Sept. 9, 2019 of a heart attack.
He was born in Merced on May 31, 1944. Tom graduated from Our Lady of Mercy High School in Merced, Modesto Community College and Stanislaus State University.
When he graduated from college, he worked at the Stanislaus County School District for three years, in speech. He then worked as a speech and hearing specialist for over 30 years with the Mariposa County School District. He also had a California Speech-Language Pathologist license for private practice.
He and his wife enjoyed backpacking, world traveling and RVing. They traveled by RV for over 30,000 miles, first with a pop up tent trailer and then with an 18 foot travel trailer.
Mr. McGarry is survived buy his wife Judy; sisters Maureen Johnson (Craig), Sherry Toler (Bryan) and Carol McGarry; brother Dennis McGarry (Debbie); nephew Roen Johnson; and niece Faith Johnson. Roen came up for many visits to the house and he and Tom looked for cattle. Faith went on two big RV trips to Montana and Texas. He will be missed by his closest friend and boss Claude May (Camille).
