Obituary

Lee Ola DeSandres passed away on June 21, 2023, at the age of 98.

Lee was born on Nov 18, 1924, in Abilene, Texas, to Vance and Iva Stewart. She grew up in Chandler, Ariz., with three sisters: Ivy, Inez and Billie; and two brothers, Jake and Larry.

Before moving to the area, Lee was married to Joe Harvey, and had two sons, Michael and Tim.

In 1956, Lee moved to Yosemite National Park and married Louie DeSandres in 1958. Together, they raised three sons: Michael, Tim and Trace; and one daughter, Sherry.

Lou and Lee lived in Yosemite and El Portal from 1956 to 1977. Upon Lou’s retirement from Yosemite National Park and Curry Company/Music Corporation of America, they moved to Midpines. Lee was a homemaker and also worked for YP&CC/MCA for many years.

Lee was preceded in death by her son, Michael; and her husband, Louie.

She is survived by her daughter, Sherry Murphy (Bob); son, Tim Harvey (Debbie); and son, Trace (Robn); and grandchildren: Ryan, Jonna, Erin, Desiree, Tana, Tim, Leslie, Michael, Stacey and Robin; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She will be fondly remembered for her fun-loving nature, taking her children on trips to the Merced River, and always having an extra seat, or two, at the table for anyone dropping by.

Lee enjoyed good times with her friends and family. Mariposa County, specifically Yosemite and El Portal, held a special place in her heart. She will be greatly missed.

A celebration of her incredible life will be held at a time to be determined in the future.
