Joyce Ann (Allen) Conway, aged 85, passed to eternity on June 10th, her mother's birthday, closing the circle on a rich, full life. She succumbed to heart failure following surgery to replace a heart valve. She Joins her husband, retired California Highway Patrol Sergeant John D. (Jack) Conway, and son Brett. She is survived by her children, Eddie, Bradley, Kristy, and Jennifer, granddaughter Skye, twenty-six grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and sister Rebecca.
Joyce was born in Visalia, California January 26th, 1937, during the Great Depression and descended from hearty pioneer stock. Her great grandfather came west in the same wagon train as the Donner Party. Her mother, Leoma Allen's family, emigrated from Germany in the early to mid-sixteen hundreds to farm in North Carolina. Her father, Edward Newton Allen, descended from the family of Ethan Allen of the Revolutionary War's “Green Mountain Boys” of the Connecticut Militia.
Joyce joined the Daughters of the Eastern Star in the Masonic Lodge in Mariposa and became an EMT at the urgent care facility in Oakhurst.
Her memorial celebration will begin at the Mariposa Funeral Home on Friday, July 1st followed by a gathering at the Mariposa County Fairgrounds. Friends and family are invited to join us to raise a Diet Pepsi to celebrate a rich life well lived.
